World leaders and prominent South Africans share their thoughts on the loss of Madiba
Former South African President Nelson Mandela has passed away at the age of 95.
Sixteen townships and 31 streets in South Africa have been named after Nelson Mandela in tribute to his achievements in shepherding a new South Africa.
The moment Nelson Mandela died at 95, together with the mourning and celebrations across South Africa, much hypocritical ink has been spilled by commentators and politicians, some of whom – like former British PM Margaret Thatcher – had painted him as a ‘terrorist’ during the apartheid years.
“It’s very silly when people say this kind of thing about Nelson. How can a man who has committed adultery and left his wife and children be Christ? The world worships Nelson too much. He is only a man.”
