Integration through sport and volunteerism were some of the initiatives recognised at the Multicultural Young People’s Awards (Mypa) in Dublin recently.

Hosted by the non-profit group Integration of All Children in Ireland, the purpose of the Mypa Awards is to recognise the contributions of young people making strides in integration and cultural awareness.
Awards were presented in various categories from art and woodwork, to sports, science, health awareness and the environment, music and social studies, cultural awareness and community.
Among those acknowledged were the St Benildus College project on integration through sport, and the Filipino Cultural Youth Group’s community and volunteerism effort.
The event was also an opportunity for young people to show their talents, with dance and song part of the programme for the evening.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Andrew Montague and the Minister for Children and Youth Affair, Frances Fitzgerald, attended the ceremony.
“We are lucky to have so many talented young people in our country,” the minister said. “You should be proud because you are leaders. You are showing adults the way to act.”
