Who’s paid what at RTÉ

Last update - Friday, April 12, 2013, 10:35 By Metro Éireann

Salaries total €9.5m for the 83 staff at RTÉ who were paid more than €100,000 in 2011, it has emerged.

The figures contrast with the pay bill at Irish language broadcaster TG4, whose 86-string staff were paid a total of €4.4 million last year.

The salary details released by the national broadcaster come after the announcement that its top presenters were paid a total of €3m in 2011.

Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy topped the table with his pay packets of €723,000 in 2011. He took a 32 per cent pay cut in 2012, receiving €495,000.

Next in line is RTÉ Radio One and Frontline host Pat Kenny's who made €630,000 in 2010 and 2011. His 2012 contract with the broadcaster is apparently still under review.

Liveline presenter Joe Duffy is currently on €300,000, down 27 per cent from his salary in 2008, while Marian Finucane took home €295,000 in 2011 (down 48 per cent from her highest earnings) and Prime Time host Miriam O'Callaghan recently agreed a fee of €211,167 per annum.

Most RTÉ presenters are independent contractors and do not count in figures for the broadcaster's staff.
