Walking in the path of financial fortune: Part 2

Winners Chapel International, DublinUnderstanding why God blesses

While talking about financial fortune in the kingdom, it is good to also know that God is a God of purpose. There is nothing He does without a concrete reason behind it. God’s prosperity plan hinges on the believer’s readiness to be a blessing. And until we understand the secret of being a blessing, we may never experience the fullness of God’s blessings in our lives (Genesis 12:2, 22:15-18; Acts 20:35; Galatians 6:10).
There is something hidden for you by God that you have to tap into via obedience to God’s word and absolute reliance on Him for everything and in everything. Isaiah 45:2-4 talks about these hidden riches.
“The wealth of the unjust is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22).
God blesses us for a number of reasons. Some of them are as follows:
- To establish His covenant (Deuteronomy 9:5-6, 18, 29:9,8; II Corinthians 8:9; Galatians 3; 13-14): God will not do nothing to break his covenant. A man’s word is a snare to him (Proverbs 6:2). Covenant is a snare. So God releases financial blessings because He has a covenanter to do so, if certain conditions are met. In fact he has concluded his part, but we only see the result each time our own part is fulfilled (Isaiah 55:11).
- To enjoy abundant life: Abundant life talks about heaven (John 10:10; I Tim. 6:17-19). No one enjoys life without money, and I have not seen anyone that confesses to enjoying poverty or lack of money. The Bible says in the above scriptures that God gives us all things richly to enjoy.
- To rescue us from shame (Joel 2:21-27, 2 Peter 1; 3): In particular, Joel 2:26 says “my people shall never be ashamed”.
- To promote the kingdom: “Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem” (Zechariah 1:17). “For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody” (Isaiah 51:3).
- To use us as a blessing to humanity (Genesis 12:1-3; 22:17-19, 2 Corinthians 8, 6; I Timothy 6:17-19): When we commit to God’s purpose for blessing, His blessings continue to flow ceaselessly.
Understanding how God prospers
You can be a faithful tither and still be ravaged by a devourer. You can be an addicted giver and not be an addicted receiver if you do not know how God releases blessings. “The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead” (Proverbs 21:16).
As you know, the dead has no path with living. This means the one who lacks understanding of how God prospers will be excluded from experiencing the reality of true prosperity. God’s prosperity can be realised when we correctly position ourselves. God prospers His people through a number of avenues, which I will list for you next time out.
