Ulster Bank gives students a lift

Last update - Monday, August 15, 2011, 19:37 By Metro Éireann

Ulster Bank is helping Cabra Youthreach in their mission to provide second chance education, life skills and introductory level training opportunities to young people in the local area. Through the Ulster Bank Community Fund, a €5,000 donation has been made to help Cabra Youthreach purchase a much needed minibus to help transport students to and from their centre where they provide weekly cultural and leisure activities.

“Ulster Bank has a long history of helping in our local communities and the Ulster Bank Community Fund is a wonderful way for our local branches and business centres to add financial support to community initiatives,” said John McGrane, head of product and service sales.
“Giving our support to causes like Cabra Youthreach is immensely rewarding for our employees and is a great way to give back.”
Ulster Bank staff also used the Give a Day volunteering programme to assist Cabra Youthreach with the gardening of their flower and vegetable beds at the centre.
As part of their community investment programme Ulster Bank has announced that all staff will be given the option to take one day’s leave per year to volunteer with a worthwhile voluntary organisation or charity.
This is one in a series of 15 ‘Customer Commitments’ launched by the bank which were created for and by customers. The full list of can be viewed  online at the bank’s website ulsterbank.com.
