Ugandan mother reunited with partner

Last update - Thursday, July 30, 2009, 13:09 By Metro Éireann

The partner of a Ugandan mother-of-three with whom she lost contact after leaving the African continent has been reunited with his wife and children, thanks to Metro Éireann.

There were emotional scenes last Saturday evening as Kabera John Bihirabagabo was reunited with his wife Cheri Kristina and children – 10-year-old Michelle, five-year-old Tevin and his 18-month old son Timothy – at the Hatch Hall asylum accommodation centre in Dublin, after he discovered her plea for his whereabouts in this newspaper.
Last week’s front page story highlighted Kristina’s search for her partner Bihirabagabo, whom she left behind in Botswana when inter-tribal conflict allegedly forced her to flee.
The couple have declined further interviews, citing their fear that continuing publicity might compromise their asylum applications.
