Turkish Airlines has announced an increase in its baggage allowance on international flights. Passengers travelling from Dublin to any of its 175 destinations across the world would now be allowed 30kg for economy class, while those in business class have a weight limit 40kg. In addition there is an extra allowance of 46kg in economy and 64 for business class for those flying to the Senegalese capital Dakar.
The hand baggage allow-ance for all passengers from Dublin is 8kg.
Turkish Airlines has also announced new a flight schedule from Istanbul to Valencia, Malaga and Toulouse.
Flights to Valencia now depart four times every week since 27 March, while the Istanbul-Malaga route will be three times a week from 27 April.
The new routes bring the total number of the airline's destinations in Spain to four, including Barcelona and Madrid.
From 16 April, three flights a week will also fly between Istanbul to Toulouse in France, with frequency expected to increase from 3 July.
Turkish Airlines now has four destinations in France, including Toulouse, Lyon, Nice and Paris.
The new destinations bring the airline’s flight destination total worldwide to 175.
Meanwhile, Turkish Air-lines has reported a net profit of $191m for 2010, which is in line with its growth strategy for the period.
In a statement to the Turkish Stock Exchange, it said the number of passengers it carried in 2010 increased by 16 percent to 29 million, while cargo and mail carried rose by 32 per cent.
Sales revenue increased by 23 per cent to $5.6bn, with about 81 per cent of the company’s scheduled service revenue obtained from international flights.
Turkish Airlines’ operating profit for 2010 stood at $307m.
