Tastes from around the world, particularly Africa and Asia, were on offer in the lobby at Citi Ireland’s headquarters on 11 June at a special lunchtime event highlighting the different cultures and identities represented in its international workforce.
It was just one of the events scheduled to mark the global bank’s annual Diversity Week from 10-14 June.
Along with traditional foods from India, Pakistan and Nigeria were a variety of vendors selling goods from henna to jewellery and clothing, not to mention the free Indian meditation classes and free salsa lessons given by Citi employees.
Dolapo Yusuf, a native Nigerian who has lived in Ireland for 12 years, was at the event as a vendor for women’s fashion boutique God’s Grace Collections.
“Being here is a way to showcase my business and to let people know that my clothing is not just for blacks or for whites, it’s for everybody,” she said, emphasising that she encourages people to wear her dresses however they feel comfortable.
