Self-help group for stammerers in Dublin

Last update - Thursday, August 27, 2009, 12:52 By Metro Éireann

The Irish Stammering Association’s Dublin self-help group meets again in September. The group provides opportunities for people who stutter to discuss issues around their stammering, as well as providing mutual support.

Many people who have attended our groups have found them to be very helpful in feeling more comfortable with their stammering.
One group member said: “When I came to the self-help group a few years ago, I didn’t know anyone else who stammered. My knowledge of stammering was limited.  Since then I have gained confidence and heard others’ experience.
“The group reassures me that I’m not alone in my stuttering and motivates me to get what I want out of life.”
The group next meets on Tuesday 1 September at 8pm in the Carmichael Centre, North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7, and all are welcome. The group meets every month on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the same venue.
