Polish reporter who documented Bosnian wars to visit Dublin

Last update - Thursday, September 25, 2008, 00:00 By Metro Éireann

AN AWARD-winning writer and journalist from Krakow will give a talk in Dublin this Saturday.

Wojciech Tochman is author of Like Eating A Stone, which documents the human devastation in the wake of the Bosnian wars through the stories of survivors.

The book was a finalist in the Nike Polish Literary Prize and for the Prix Témoin du Monde, awarded by Radio France International.

Likened in sensibility to the great Ryszard Kapuściński, Tochman captures a painful moment in history as an entire community comes to terms with its raw and recent past.

Tochman will deliver his Dublin lecture at 7pm on Saturday 27 September at The Banker’s Club at IBOA House on Stephen Street Upper, Dublin 8. Admission is free and an English translator will be in attendance.

The author is visiting Dublin as part of a series of lectures organised by the consular section of the Polish Embassy in Dublin in association with Bank of Ireland.
