Pilgrims prepare for visit to ‘Holy Land’

A city of great history and religious significance for Jews, Christians and Muslims across the world, Jerusalem is the destination for a group of pilgrims from the Kingdom Dominion Christian Church in Dublin.
Pastor Joshua Olufemi-Ojo is organising the pilgrimage, the third for the church, which will visit areas such as the Mount of Olives and the Western Wall and will even include a trip to Mount Sinai in Egypt where the Old Testament tells Moses received the Ten Commandments.
“I think it is important for all believers to visit Jerusalem if at all possible,” said Pastor Olufemi-Ojo. “Not because they are religiously required to, but because it brings all the stories of the Bible to life.
“I personally want to walk where Jesus walked and pray where Jesus prayed. It gives you a lift. You feel it.”
Adebayo Adelowo took part in one of the church’s previous week-long trips to the ‘Holy Land’.
“When you read the Bible and all of its stories it almost seams like a fairy tale,” he said. “But when you go there and see all the things that were described in the scriptures you know that it is all real.
“And Israel is a great place because the people are so accommodating and nice. The security is very strong too, so you never feel unsafe.”
Stephen Olawuyi will travel to Jerusalem for the first time this year with the church, and he said he is “very excited to see where Jesus preached the gospel, died and rose again.
“As a follower of Jesus Christ, it is so important for me to experience this, and to do it with a group of other believers makes it all the more special,” he added.
