Last week Garda authorities renewed their call on the public to help solve the murder of a Malawian national whose badly decomposed body was discovered in Kilkenny five years ago.
According to gardaí, the on-going investigation into the death of Paiche Onyemaechi Unyolo has been very extensive, with over 500 statements taken from members of the public. Unfortunately, none has been able to unravel the main details of her death.
Gardaí also repeated that they particularly want to speak to Unyolo’s husband Chika Onyemaechi, who they believe may hold greater clues for the investigation.
The Nigerian disappeared a few days since after his wife’s body was discovered, and the authorities have expressed their concern for his welfare.
It is upsetting that this investigation has lingered so long, and shocking that the whereabouts of Unyolo’s husband remain unknown. Surely in this modern age of information, making enquiries with his friends and relatives both here and abroad – with the assistance of Interpol –would not prove too difficult.
We would urge everyone – especially members of the Nigerian community – who may have any information regarding the whereabouts of Chika Onyemaechi or relating to the death of Paiche Onyemaechi Unyolo to urgently contact the gardaí before the trail gets too cold to follow.
