Nominations set to open for Africa Day Awards 2013

Last update - Friday, March 29, 2013, 12:53 By Metro Éireann

Entries are being sought for the 2013 edition of the Africa Day Awards.

The Metro Éireann initiative aims to promote and celebrate the relationships and solidarity between individuals and organisations in Ireland and in the countries of Africa.

The Africa Day Awards also acknowledge and promote leadership and innovation in the advancement of African nations.

As always the awards are open to individuals, organisations and businesses with links in Africa.

Awards are given in each of five categories: individuals in all sectors, not for profit organisations, private sector organisations, public sector organisations and education institutions.

The Africa Day Awards will be assessed and given to those individuals or organisations who show mutual support, respect, benefit and learning in their links to Africa.

Additionally, award nominees from leadership and business/entrepreneurship areas will be considered based on innovation and vision, impact on employment, empowerment of local communities, impact of African institutional practices and enhanced service provision within local African communities.

Nomination forms for this year’s Africa Day Awards will be available on the official website AfricaDayAwards.com from 10 April. The deadline for entries is 30 April, so be sure to get your nominations in on time!
