Nigerians top of the list in seeking Irish citizenship

NIGERIANS are the top nationality seeking Irish citizenship, according to official figures.They are followed by Filipinos and Pakistanis, with an overall total of 18,000 applications currently pending with the Department of Justice.

Nigerians also record the highest refusal rate, says the department.
The average processing time for applications remains at 24 months.
According to the department: “More complicated cases can at times take more than the current average, while an element of straightforward cases can be dealt with in less than that timescale.”
