Nigerian boy stabbed to death in Dublin

A 15-year-old Nigerian boy has been stabbed to death in Dublin 15.Metro Éireann understands that the incident happened just after 8pm last night in the Tyrellstown area, close to the Blanchardstown Centre.

The boy, who cannot be named at this time, was pronounced dead at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown a short time later.
Gardaí confirmed that two men have been arrested and are being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. They said all circumstances surrounding the death would be investigated.
Meanwhile, tension is mounting within the Nigerian community over the incident. Many Nigerians in Tyrellstown who spoke to Metro Éireann suggested the stabbing was racially motivated.
Late last night gardaí reached out to some Nigerian community leaders urging them to appeal for calm.
They also called on anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any useful information to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station at 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or their local Garda station.
