New books published by Irish Writers’ Exchange members

Last update - Sunday, September 1, 2013, 15:05 By Metro Éireann

Two members of the Irish Writers’ Exchange – who regularly review books for Metro Éireann – are launching their own publications this month.

Jeanette Rehnstrom’s first novel Bebove – under the name JB Rehnstrom – will be launched at Yamamori Sushi on Ormond Quay at 7pm on 24 September.

Originally from Sweden, Rehnstrom has made Ireland her home since 2004 after stints in London, Los Angeles, and New York, as well as longer periods in France, South Africa and Ghana.

“Bebove tells the story of a man in his 30s who one day has an unusual one-night stand,” she tells Metro Éireann. “Although he is ready to forget about the night’s aberration, he soon is brought into further contact with the temporary connection, as this person begins to pursue him from the shadows.

“Everybody, including those closest to our protagonist, seems to know the lover and work on their behalf, thus by stealth steering our hero in his life decisions.”

Rehnstrom urges readers interested in attending to join her for a glass of wine and evening of literary entertainment.

Meanwhile, Roslyn Fuller will also be launching her textbook Biehler on International Law: An Irish Perspective at the Goethe Institut on Merrion Square at 4:30pm on 25 September.

Originally from Canada, Fuller studied at Georg-August University in Goettingen, Germany and Trinity College Dublin. She currently lectures in law at the NUI Maynooth.

In addition to numerous legal articles, she is also the author of a novel, ISAK, and was contributing editor of the multicultural short story collection Dublin: Ten Journeys, One Destination.

Fuller says any readers interested in “a late afternoon bottle of wine in the midst of sizzling conversation among some of the nation’s most brilliant minds” should make their way to the event.
