Match for slain Toyosi

Last update - Thursday, May 13, 2010, 13:04 By Catherine Reilly

A MEMORIAL SOCCER match for slain Nigerian teen Toyosi Shitta-bey will be held this Saturday.

Teams from the Insaka Academy, a west Dublin-based outfit comprised largely of Africans, will participate in the match against Bray Travellers this Saturday 15 May at 2pm at the Garda Grounds in Westmanstown.
Members of the gardaí will turn out for both sides at the fixture, while school-goers and residents from around Dublin 15 have been invited.
According to Ken McCue, secretary of Insaka and co-founder of Sport Against Racism Ireland, Glentoran FC has sent down a new kit for the Insaka boys, and it is hoped the game will help further reduce tensions in Dublin 15.
“We wanted to have this [event] sooner, because there is still a lot of tension,” he said.
