A MAJOR global television news network is to launch a campaign promoting the Polish economy and tourism this month.
According to a statement from Poland’s ministry of foreign affairs, which is backing the initiative, the 12-week campaign on CNN International, to be launched tomorrow, will “present Poland as a modern and dynamic country, an attractive tourist destination, a reliable business partner and a profitable place in which to invest.”
The statement continued: “The entire project, which aims to create a positive image of our country, has been made possible thanks to the cooperation of the ministry of foreign affairs, the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, the Polish Tourist Organisation and Polish Airlines LOT.”
In addition, the cities of Gdańsk, Warsaw and Łódź, as well as the Warsaw Stock Exchange, will be promoted on the channel.
Two promotional spots have been prepared on the basis of a survey of people’s attitudes towards Poland and Poles, conducted by CNN. They will present Poland as a modern country, characterised by a developing economy, as a ‘must’ on the tourist map of Europe and as a place offering many opportunities to young people, The spots will be complemented by advertising banners on CNN’s websites.
The campaign also complements the promotion of Poland through a series called Eye on Poland, prepared by CNN and aimed at providing information about Poland’s economy, politics, tourism and culture. It will be broadcast between 6 and 13 October 2008. CNN International – the global version of the news network started by US media mogul Ted Turner over 28 years ago – reaches over 200 million households around the world on cable and satellite television.
