Bikers from Eastern Europe have brought a new form of motorcycling culture to Ireland, as witnessed at Charleville Castle, Co Offaly last weekend.
Live music, competition, and good-old fashioned conversations were features of the largely Lithuanian gathering.
And as one participant told Metro Éireann, it united bikers who have a different biking culture than their Irish counterparts.
Dublin-based Zydrius Plukas from central Lithuania explain-ed: “We meet a lot of Irish but they are not the same as in Lithuania. The Irish motorcyclists are using their motorcycles to go from A to B, from home to work. But we use public transport or cars for that.
“We [ride motorcycles] because we love nature, love to sit by the water, play the guitar and all that.”
Last weekend’s event was organised by Motomanai, a Lithuanian biker organisation in Ireland.
