Irish basketball greats to star in anti-racism video

Last update - Thursday, August 16, 2007, 00:00 By Metro Éireann

Two of the biggest names in Irish basketball are set to take part in a new video being produced as part of a campaign aimed at riding sport of racism.

International stars Justen Naughton and Michael Bree (pictured left and right) are scheduled to take part in the campaign, which is a joint initiative between Basketball Ireland and Show Racism the Red Card.

Basketball Ireland has kicked off a number of initiatives aimed at drawing Ireland’s immigrant community into the game, including the ongoing Summer Jam event, which pits mixed-sex teams, made up of people of various nationalities, against each other in a series of regional events ahead of a final, due to take place at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on 18 and 19 August.

A number of NBA players from the USA, rumoured to be from the Washington Wizards, are also set to make an appearance at the inaugural event.
