Ireland’s Filipino embassy is set for business - almost

Last update - Thursday, July 9, 2009, 12:13 By Metro Éireann

AT LONG last, Ireland’s sizeable Filipino population has its own embassy. But the mission still needs a permanent office.

“We’re looking for an office and not ready to do public service yet,” explained official Joy Quintana.
In the meantime, people are welcome to contact the embassy at its temporary office or make enquiries with honorary consul John Ferris, she added.
Ambassador Ariel Y Abadilla recently presented his credentials to President Mary McAleese. He comes to Ireland from sunnier climes, having been Philippine consul general in Honolulu, Hawaii since December 2005.
An exclusive interview with Ambassador Abadilla is scheduled in next week’s edition.

The temporary office of the Philippines Embassy is at Fitzwilliam Business Centre, GO3, 77 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2 (Tel 01 640 1946).
