I Go Dye no-shows Dublin comedy night

Last update - Thursday, March 11, 2010, 10:53 By Metro Éireann

AFRICAN COMEDY fans in Dublin were left bitterly disappointed last weekend when a famous Nigerian funny-man failed to perform at a comedy event as billed.

Francis Agoda, popularly known as I Go Dye, is a major comic star in Nigeria – and had been listed to perform at an African comedy night in Rialto last Saturday night.
Rumours circulated that I Go Dye had been refused an Irish visa, but organisers Redwood Entertainment could not be contacted to confirm the reasons for the comedian’s absence.
The night went ahead with Irish-Nigerian comic David Thomas (Fabu D) and UK-based Tunde Ednut providing the laughs.
But some revellers who’d been expecting to see I Go Dye did not see the funny side.
“A couple of married women wanted to kill the bouncer,” commented one event-goer. “They were asking: ‘Where is I Go Dye?!’”
