Gardaí seek Nigerian who vanished after wife’s death

Last update - Thursday, July 30, 2009, 13:08 By Catherine Reilly

GARDAÍ have renewed their call in seeking a Nigerian man who disappeared days after the discovery of his wife’s decapitated body in Co Kilkenny.

The remains of Paiche Onyemaechi Unyolo (25) from Malawi were found in Brenar Bridge, Piltown, Co Kilkenny five years ago.
The daughter of Malawi’s former chief justice Leonard Unyolo, she had been living in rented accommodation in St Herblain Park in Waterford city. Her decapitated remains were found 4km north of Piltown, Co Kilkenny, on 23 July 2004.
“The investigation into her death is extensive and to date over 500 statements have been taken,” said a spokesperson at Clonmel Garda Station. “We would be particularly interested in speaking to Paiche’s husband Chika who may be able to assist us further the investigation.
“We are concerned for Chika’s welfare as he has not been seen since a number of days after his wife’s body was discovered.”
Anyone with information can contact gardaí in Clonmel on 052 77640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
