Future teachers get informed on diversity and interculturalism

Last update - Wednesday, February 15, 2012, 02:12 By Metro Éireann

Students at Froebel College of Education in Blackrock, Co Dublin attended the Diversity and Intercultural Education (Dice) Fair last Thursday (9 February), where they availed of resources relating to global issues, diversity and inclusion for use in primary school classrooms.

The fair takes place in all five education colleges in Ireland and is attended by Irish Aid, Eco Unesco, Eco Congregation and Amnesty International as well as many other organisations.
That same evening Froebel College hosted a ‘world café´ on integration, organised by the college’s diversity committee as part of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s strategy for inclusion.
The college also hopes to be the first third-level institution in Ireland to receive a Yellow Flag for promoting diversity and inclusion in schools and communities from the Irish Traveller Movement.
