What Maisie Knew Dir: Scott McGehee & David Siegel

Six-year-old Maisie lives in the tragedy of her parents’ marriage. At first, she doesn’t seem very upset about this situation, but in fact the upheaval is changing her.

When her father moves out of the house, her beloved nanny leaves and her mother marries a bartender, Maisie begins to crack. She is forced to go back and forth between two houses – and eventually she decides that she doesn’t want to play anymore.

In this film adaptation of Henry James’ 1897 novel, we get a look into the adult world through Maisie’s eyes. The movie shows what she focuses on to escape her parents problems, which highlights how meaningless adult issues can appear from a child’s perspective.

The film stars Julianne Moore and Steve Coogan and Alexander Skarsgård, with Onata Aprile as the titular Maisie
