DROGHEDA UNITED last week signed Bosnian-born attacking midfielder Fahrudin Kuduzovic for an undisclosed fee from Sligo Rovers.
Kuduzovic put pen to paper on a three-year deal, having passed a medical and agreeing personal terms last week. Though he is cup-tied and cannot play in either the FAI Ford Cup or the League of Ireland Cup, Kuduzovic will be eligible to take part in the league champions’ upcoming Champions League campaign.
The Drogs had a lot of competition for Kuduzovic’s signature, both at home and abroad, but the Bosnian insisted that United were the only club he wanted to sign for. “Once I’d heard of the interest, I was always going to sign. I’d heard good things from Adam [Hughes, current United player and former Sligo Rovers captain] about the club and the professionalism there. They’re the top team in the country, with a great future.” ‘Faz’ also admitted the draw of Champions League football played a part. “I’m looking forward to the experience of Champions League football, that was a big factor for me.” United are still pushing for silverware on all fronts, and with 50-plus points up for grabs in the league.
Manager Paul Doolin was delighted with the signing, saying: “I think we’ve got a very good signing in Kuduzovic. I remember seeing him for the first time a couple of years ago and thought he was very good, and he’s improved a lot since. “He’s at a good age and has a good future with the club. I think he gives us another dimension going forward.”
