CHILD ABDUCTIONS into and out of Ireland are increasing, according to figures released this week.
Some 141 cases involving 183 children were received by Ireland’s Central Authority for Child Abduction during 2008. This marks a 42 per cent rise on last year.
Seventy cases involve abductions from other countries into Ireland, while 71 abductions from Ireland are being investigated.
Of the new applications, nearly half involve British children, followed by youngsters from other European countries, including Poland and Latvia.
