Brian Kerr Summer League confirmed

Last update - Thursday, July 5, 2007, 00:00 By Metro Éireann

Details of the upcoming Brian Kerr Summer League have been announced, with the starting date for the event set for this Sunday, 8 July.

Fourteen teams representing dozens of different nationalities are set to line out for the league, which is expected to culminate in a final played at Dalymount Park on 30 September 2007. Many of the teams from the Brian Kerr Sari Inter-Continental League will be taking part alongside new teams representing the Roma community, the Travelling community, the Czech Republic and a team from the company Xerox which features a squad so diverse that there are no more than two players from any one country.

The league will be split into two groups of seven, with each playing six games before the four top teams face off in order to whittle the top tier down to finalists.

Meanwhile, an end-of-season celebration involving the teams who took part in the Brian Kerr Sari International League 2006/07 is set to take place this Saturday 7 July, at the Excise Bar in Dublin’s IFSC.

During the evening, the league’s winners will be presented with their awards, as will the runners up and the golden boot winner.

The event is set to kick off at 7pm – free finger food will be available and players can bring along their partners.

League organiser Gil Berkovich said of the event: “This is a special evening to celebrate the participation of [the teams and players] in the Brian Kerr Sari Inter-Continental League in the season of 2006/07.

“We are going to have the presentation and present the prizes for merit and excellence.”
Organisers ask that players confirm their attendance prior to the event via their team manager.
