Bread Fingers

Last update - Thursday, February 8, 2007, 00:00 By Metro Éireann

Dear Readers, This week’s I am going to share an easy tea time snack, to try a different taste with your usual bread. See you with another mouth watering recipe next week! Yours, Ratna Pusarapu ratnasree@gmail.com

THIS WEEK:

Bread Fingers

Ingredients
- 5 or 6 slices of bread
- 1/2 cup tomato salsa
- 1 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1 tbsp rice flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep-frying

Method
Sieve the besan, rice flour, salt and baking soda into a bowl.
Add water to make a fine batter (like pancake batter).
Cut the crusts off the bread, and slice the bread into oneinch lengthwise pieces.
Take two pieces of bread, spread the salsa on one side and stick those sides together to make one finger.
Dip each finger in the batter and drop them carefully in the hot oil. Fry until they are little brown. Drain and serve hot with ketchup.
