Beware the rebel around the corner

Last update - Thursday, December 15, 2011, 00:06 By Metro Éireann

Unfortunately, many believers fail to recognise the power and potential of Satan and his agencies.

Believers are interested in digging deep into the Word of God, but the moment you dare to expound Ephesians 6:12 – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” – you are bound to receive unwarranted opposition from your colleagues debating that I am elevating the kingdom of darkness.
Whether you study this kingdom of darkness or not, the devil is bound to attack you. Truly, the devil is more interested in your ignorance and laziness and lack of awareness to estimate his strength. Believers’ lackadaisical attitude has been his stock in trade.
Recently, Nato assisted the rebels of Libya and their National Transitional Council (NTC) in ending the 42-year dictatorship of Muammar Gaddafi. What amazed me about this was that the international community recognised the anti-Gaddafi forces, giving them the name ‘rebels’ as they pushed Gaddafi out of power. But why were they called rebels? The simple answer is that the Gaddafi government was internationally recognised as the legitimate power until his death.
Most governments in Africa came into power through rebellious means. Some came by coup de tat, changing clothes from military garb to civilian dresses and eventually being recognised by the United Nations. It’s treason legitimised by the international community.
Dear readers, if you are not careful, your silent enemies may overthrow you, and bystanders and onlookers will unanimously raise their fists in support of your opponents for a job well done. But the Lord God Almighty detests and abhors rebellion. Remember how He speedily displaced Satan from Heaven and sent him down to the earth. Unfortunately, Satan succeeded in whisking one-third of angels to his side by promising to give them more power and honour than God would have given them.
Let us consider 1 Samuel 15:23: “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.” Anyone that lives in the sin of rebellion and stubbornness is inviting the spirit of death, according to 1 John 5:16-21: “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.”
The Word of God for this season is found in Deuteronomy 32:43, which says: “Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.” Therefore, Nato, Libya’s rebels and the NTC have argued to the whole world that they are not rebels – it was Gaddafi who was the rebel. He rebelled against his own people, and paid for it with his dear life. Psalm 68:6 says: “God setteth the solitary in families; he bringeth out those which are bound with chains; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”
Those that rebel against the government of God in my life and your life shall dwell and die in dry land in Jesus’ name. Readers, don’t rebel against God so that your seed shall enjoy the good things He wants to do for His people.
