Although Metro Éireann commendably strives to give a voice to minorities in Ireland, its recent and frankly disturbing trend of labelling the Ahmadiyya sect as Muslim is both insulting and demeaning to the 50,000-plus Muslims who reside in Ireland, not to mention the 1.5 billion across the globe.
The Ahmadiyya sect, from its inception, has been unanimously considered to be outside the fold of Islam, and deviant in respect of its beliefs and practises. It is therefore incorrect to label them Muslim or associate them in any way with the pristinely pure Islam sent down by Allah and propagated through and by His chosen Messenger, the final Prophet to all mankind, Muhammad ibn Abdullah.
