UN video contest on diversity

Last update - Thursday, March 11, 2010, 10:54 By Metro Éireann

The United Nations is launching a new youth video contest to explore the themes of migration, diversity and identity.

In collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and other international partners, the UN Alliance of Civilisations’ Plural+ festival is aimed at involving youth in addressing these key issues in their communities.
According to the organisers: “The practical contributions of young people – whether they are migrants, second-generation immigrants or non-migrants – can come not just by identifying constraints, but also through promoting a climate of respect and appreciation for each other, helping to point the way towards a more enlightened world.”
The festival invites young people from around the world to this by submitting short videos on their thoughts and experiences regarding these important issues, and how to promote more harmonious societies.
The closing date for submissions is 30 June 2010. Further information, including guidelines, rules and regulations, and entry forms (in English, French and Spanish), is available on the Plural+ website at www.unaoc.org/pluralplus.
A prestigious international jury will announce the winners at an awards ceremony at New York’s Paley Center for Media on 12 November 2010.
