Ireland’s Hindus to host Laya spectacular

Last update - Thursday, May 7, 2009, 00:32 By Metro Éireann

The Ireland Vinayaka Temple (IVT) is proud to present the Indian music, song and dance extravaganza Laya on Saturday 16 May at Dublin’s Liberty Hall from 2.30pm.

Laya, meaning rhythm, is an Indian cultural event now in its fourth year, and will feature spectacular dance performances, enthralling traditional and folk music, Bollywood tunes and classical Carnatic performances by a group of talented artists.
Through Laya, the Hindu Community in Ireland seeks to promote cross-cultural understanding, and provide a unique opportunity to explore and experience ethnic Hindu and Indian culture.
The highlight of this year’s event will be a classical Carnatic concert by renowned young vocalist Sanjay Subrahmanyan, who has performed around the world and is celebrated for his ability to blend traditional music with modern trends.
Since its inception in 2004, the IVT has endeavoured to set up a temple of worship for Hindus in Ireland from countries as diverse as India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia and Nepal.
For further details on Laya and the IVT, please visit www.ivt.ie. Tickets for Laya available from www.ctb.ie and Ticketmaster.ie. Bookings can be also made through IVT at 086 888 1905 or feedback@ivt.ie.
