Ahmadiyya Muslims to host Eid event for Ireland’s media

As Muslims the world over celebrate the end of Ramadan this week, members of the media in Ireland have been invited to a special party.

The event, organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Associa-tion Ireland, will take place on Saturday 3 September – two days after the end of Ramadan – at the association’s community centre in Lucan, Co Dublin.
Press secretary Imran Ahmed Sheikh told Metro Éireann: “This particular Eid Milan is only for the press and media people in Ireland who have covered our activities throughout the year, and thus we would like to invite them and to say our thanks in person for the coverage they have given to us during the past year.”
He added: “The invitation is also extended to other newspaper and media publications or freelance journalists who have yet to know us.”
Dr Aleem Uddin, national president of the association in Ireland, and national missionary in charge Imam Ibrahim Noonan will be among the community members welcoming guests and will be available to answer “any formal or informal questions on any topic on Ramadan, Eid, or on general experiences of the month of fasting and its benefits.”
The event also features an exhibition about the organisation, founded in 1889 and presently spanning over 195 countries with tens of millions in membership.
Sheikh urged guests to take “some time out to attend, even for half an hour. That would be grand.” Light Asian finger food refreshments will be served, he added.
